Rotimi Idowu – Senior Attorney, Chevron Nigeria Limited

Rotimi is an attorney with about twenty years’ experience. He has a very rich, varied and exceptional academic and professional background. He has worked in the financial services, and oil and gas sectors and acquired significant experience in corporate legal practice in the aspects of commercial negotiation, transactional practice and litigation.

He graduated from university in 1999 as the overall best graduating student in a class of 180 students at Obafemi Awolowo University. He won 9 awards during the school’s graduation ceremony. Thereafter, he went to the Nigerian Law school where he finished in the top 5% of the class. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious British Chevening scholarship to undergo his postgraduate studies at University College London. At the end of the program, he bagged a Masters of Law degree with Merit grade in 2005.

He has had the privilege of working for several organizations in the insurance, banking and oil and gas sectors. He also volunteered at the London Borough of Sutton in 2005. His years of cognate experience have contributed to making him astute and technically savvy in handling legal matters of different shades. He negotiated oil and gas contracts within and outside Nigeria and succeeded in adding value to the business he supports. In this regard, he has won several accolades and corporate recognition for excellent service.

Beyond his professional experience, he has held various degrees of leadership positions, the latest of which is head of litigation department of Warri office of Chevron Nigeria Limited. He also had the opportunity of providing excellent leadership which has been widely acknowledged and has generated improved performance.
